Monarch Butterfly
Monarch Butterfly on swamp milkweed by I.S.U. Hard to believe that something that weighs less than 1/2 a gram, can travel between 1,200 - 2,800 miles on their migration. Successive generations north bound, but only one brave soul south bound! I believe this is a male and it was mid-August when I made this photo, so probably south bound. They recently were listed as an endangered species. Plant milkweed!
